WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

My name is Jean Tyrrell and I am a British Wheel trained yoga teacher. I teach yoga, meditation, relaxation, pranayama (breathwork) and art.

My approach to teaching yoga postures, is based on linking the breath with the movements and keeping the attention in the present. I also teach mindful meditation and pranayama, and am planning a meditation course very soon. I believe that with regular practice, yoga can transform peoples lives both physically and mentally.

I've also got a lovely new studio which will fit 10 people comfortably and I've got plans for all sorts of things.

WHAT IS YOGA?

Yoga is a practical aid, not a religion. It’s an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind, and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being connected.
The practice of yoga falls into many categories. Hatha yoga is the umbrella term for the physical side of yoga. Asanas are the individual postures. Other branches of yoga include meditation and pranayama (breathwork). Yoga asanas were initially meant as preparation for meditation and pranayama.
The practice of hatha yoga makes the body strong and flexible, it also improves the functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and hormonal systems. Meditation and pranayama bring about emotional stability and clarity of mind.
Think of the practice as being the means and tools to realign and rebalance your body on a regular basis.

WHO IS IT FOR?

It's appropriate for just about everyone. Children who take it up can easily become as skillful as adults. For older people, it is a great nonaerobic conditioner. For athletes, it can provide flexibility and centering.

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR CLOTHING?

No special outfit is required..... just loose-fitting, comfortable clothes (breathable material like cotton), a small area of floor space, and a yoga mat if possible. Props such as support blocks can be used, but aren’t necessary. Teachers usually provide those things if they’re needed.
